The book by one of the most notable poets of the last decade, Boris Khersonsky, includes poems written in 2007-2009. Memory is personal, “in half-forgotten words” sorting through “half-forgotten things” in its “crowded house”; she is also the representative of historical memory, which operates over centuries and millennia, while their traces have not yet been erased. And - the world, “the strong, cheerful gray city of Sodom,” amusing itself with alternating demolitions and reconstructions until apocalyptic darkness falls. Retrospection and eschatology are two dimensions of the “time years”, two main themes of this collection. As illustrations for the book and in the binding design, a series of collages “Max’s Favorite Birds” by Alexander Roitburd, one of the leaders of Ukrainian postmodernism, was used.
