Samokat Publishing House is the first independent children's book publishing house in Russia. Since 2003, Samokat has been finding and publishing for Russian readers children's and teenage books by the world's best authors and discovering the names of new Russian writers and artists.
Among the books published by "Scooter" - the best that can be found in the literature of different countries. These are translations from more than 15 languages. The authors of many texts and illustrations are laureates of the most prestigious awards: the Andersen medal, the Astrid Lindgren memorial prize, the German Children's Literary Prize.
These are books that are in tune with modern children, but at the same time do not become outdated over the years. What can be considered a modern classic of world children's reading. Or what will soon become her.
Scooter published books that became landmarks for the literary process: "Waffle Heart" and "Tonya Glimmerdahl" by Maria Parr, "Dog Dog" and "Like a Novel" by Daniel Pennack, "Friday, or Wild Life" by Michel Tournier and "Celestial People by Nobel laureate Gustave Leklezio, Island in the Sea by Annika Thor and texts by Marie-Aude Murray, Ulf Stark, Bianca Pitzorno and Angela Nanetti and many others.
Working with illustrations has always been no less important for Scooter than with texts. Here were published the first wimmelbuchs (books without text) on the Russian market, Rotraut by Susanne Berner, illustrated encyclopedias by Alexandra and Daniel Mizelinsky "Maps", "Underground / Underwater" and "On the Road to Yellowstone", the most beautiful "Trees" and "Bees" Peter Sokhy. Samokat also did a great job in fostering a culture of reading picture books - books by the legends of world illustration by Tommy Ungerer and Bruno Heitz, Pia Lindenbaum and David Mackey, Marianne Dubuc and Kazuo Iwamura were published in Russian.
Among the authors published by Samokat are many names of contemporary Russian writers and illustrators. Books by Nina Dashevskaya, Yulia Yakovleva, Daria Dotsuk, Stanislav Vostokov, Dina Sabitova, Daria Vilke, Artur Givargizov and many others have been and are being published here.
Many of them have received recognition not only in Russia, but also abroad. Books of "Scooter" were published in different countries of the world and received prestigious awards.
